Prince William and Kate Middleton to Visit Canada

Posted August 26th, 2011 by immigratecanada and filed in Immigration to Canada

VICTORIA – It’s official. Britain’s hottest couple will visit Canada this summer. June 30th His Royal Highness Prince William, and by then, Princess Catherine will visit Canada. Will and Kate’s first official trip as a married couple will take them to Prince Edward Island, Ottawa, Quebec, Alberta, the Northwest Territories and the Arctic, over nine days. But you won’t see them here in the most British of Canadian cities. The English Sweet Shop, decked out in royal memorabilia, would love to sweet talk the royal newlyweds into visiting Victoria. These are Murray Mints. I can see them enjoying Murray Mints on their walks,” says owner Wendy Beach. But royal planners have decided those walks won’t be down our streets. Even Government House is a little disappointed. A representative says they would have loved the opportunity to host the royal newlyweds, but will graciously wait until the next time. In 2009 Government house hosted Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, and for her Golden Jubilee in 2002 the Queen toured Canada extensively, also stopping in Victoria. But the monarchist league says we shouldn’t feel snubbed. The Royal visit has been in the works for some time. The Prime Minister was one of the first to put his invitation in. Stephen Harper says the fact they accepted shows how strong the bond is between the two countries.
