Can anyone run through the process of immigrating to Canada?

Posted April 3rd, 2012 by immigratecanada and filed in Immigration to Canada

I am being sponsored under the family class as a conjugal partner, what/where do I begin. I think I have all the paper work but here is the situation. I am living in the USA as a citizen, my Canadian Girlfriend lives in Quebec as a citizen. I am aware that I have to submit all the forms, the fees and the Quebec selection certificate. My question(s) is do I send all the paperwork I have to my sponsor and if not what order do i need to submit siad documents and to where (i.e. do I send the Quebec stuff to Quebec or do I send it all to CIC)? It has taken me long enough to figure out that i can immigrate to Canada but now I am so lost as to the order and location that all these documents need to be sent. Thanks to ANYONE who knows wat they are talking about here because it is MUCH appreciated. Thanks. Oh, and do I need an FBI “police report” or does my local PD count? Thanks!

We are taking to Ferry from Bellingham, Washington to Haines, Alaska. Then driving from Haines to Anchorage. We will pass through Canada. Just the bottom tip. Thanks for everyone advice. I know I will have to have a health certificate to get on the Ferry so I will have one. I just didn’t know about Canada customs. Thanks all

Can you sponsor someone through common law union?

I live in Canada, so I would need to know from someone who knows Canadian immigration law.

If someone is common law with someone else, can that person sponsor them back to Canada if they get deported? Or could that only work through legal MARRIAGE?

Also, if they are common law or married (not out of love, but out of immigration reasons), do they have to live together for a certain period of time?
Graham, it’s not the first or last case. So relax.

How much money is required to go through customs when traveling to Canada from the US?

Posted November 3rd, 2010 by immigratecanada and filed in Immigration to Canada

I was wondering how much money is required to go through customs when traveling to Canada from the US? My boyfriend is coming to stay all of July and maybe a week in August this summer, but isn’t going to have alot of money when he comes. Would they deny him entry to Canada if he didn’t have enough, even though I’d be supporting him? Thanks for your answers everyone.

I am doing research on which Canadian immigration program for business people is the best. Some people have recommended that I go through the Quebec immigration program for business people but I understand there is a difference between selection and admission and still the Canadian government will be involved can you clarify that for me?
