When immigrants arrive in Canada are their names still changed to “Canadianize” them?

My friend told me this still practised by immigration services, is this true?

For example, would the name “Miguel” be changed into “Michael”? Or would the immigrant be allowed to keep their original name?

Do Burmese passport holders need transit visas for Canada, Tokyo and Hong Kong? And how do they get them?

A friend will be travelling from Thailand to New York on a Burmese passport and she has options for the route. 1) via Hong Kong and Vancouver 2) via Narita (Tokyo) and San Francisco. She will choose based on whether she needs the visa and how easy it is to apply. Do you know how to get the necessary transit visas? Thanks all!
