Canadian Tire VS Sears Canada? Which has better Customer Service?

Posted December 25th, 2011 by immigratecanada and filed in Immigration to Canada

I am planning on buying a treadmill in Montreal from either:

– Canadian Tire or

– Sears Canada

My concern is that which of the above two has a better, reliable, efficient Customer Service? In case something goes wrong with the treadmill, then which one has a better customer service department and are more professional?

This is an important factor for me before buying an expensive item. Please help.

Immigration by military service?

Posted May 6th, 2010 by immigratecanada and filed in Uncategorized

Would it help me in getting residence status / citizenship if I serve in the military? I’m looking at the US, Canada, or Australia.

Or would I have to be a citizen in the first place?

Otherwise, how many years do I have to be in the military before I can be a citizen?

Planning on pursuing a career as a Canadian Foreign Service Officer, is an anthropology major a good idea?

Posted April 23rd, 2010 by immigratecanada and filed in Uncategorized

I’m currently planning on pursuing a career as a Canadian Foreign Service Officer. My goal is to work for Citizenship and Immigration Canada as an immigration officer. Is social/cultural anthropology a good idea for a major? I’m bilingual, so I wouldn’t minor in French, but would it be a good idea to minor in a different foreign language? If anthropology isn’t a good path to follow, then what discipline should I pursue that would benefit the chances I have of becoming an FSO. Any advice is appreciated.

Immigration Service is a joke re: Laibar Singh?

Whomever it was within the Immigration Service who bowed down to the protesters today at YVR should be fired on the spot. Our laws apparently dont apply to Mr Singh who faked a passport and has been illegally in Canada for 4 years. The Immigration service has ping ponged with deportation orders for this man for months and each time has caved in to pressure from Singh’s supporters. Who do these supporters think they are disrupting service at YVR, blocking traffic and feeling immigration laws do not apply to this man? Shame on the airport ‘police’ for standing there and doing nothing. I guess they were too intimidated by the unruly mob of protesters. Interesting how they can rush in and taser someone to death who came into this country legally yet they stand around like cowards and let an illegal immigrant stay. Canada is not inhumane as some of these protesters screech..it is called the law and it applies to everyone, including them. The Immigration service is as flawed as the justice system in this country. The protesters can cry all they want about how inhumane it is to send this man back..it is not Canada’s fault the man has medical issues..I will save my sympathy for those who have been truly victimized like Michael Levy, who was attacked for no reason with an axe and paralyzed for life by some heartless thugs who walked out of court today laughing because they received such light ‘sentences’. Why is no one protesting that? A true canadian who was let down by a wimpy legal system. So much for being proud of this country anymore..it is absolutely disgusting what people get away with and how a group of individuals who feel they are above the law and get their way by bullying the Immigration service. Why was no one arrested for disrupting a legal deportation order? Shame on all involved!
