Migration to Canada as a Dependant?

Posted August 1st, 2011 by immigratecanada and filed in Immigration to Canada

My mother applied as a skilled worker, in 2004. At that time, I was 19, still under my father’s sponsorship, had just graduated college, and was applying as her dependant. Since submitting our papers, I have started working full time and even changed my sponsorship to my company’s in accordance with the local residency laws of my country. Just recently, the immigration authorities have asked for a status update and our lawyers mentioned that we should not show that I have been working since then, as I would not be considered her dependant. I want to go to Canada for my MBA, but I am unsure of what to do, as my last application form said that since 2004 I have been studying for my MBA entrance, and doing part time work, however the immigration authorities have seen my employment visa in my passport (as an ‘Accountant’) and now doubt the authenticity. They have now asked for an explanation regarding this discrepancy and we are very confused about what to do/say..would appreciate any info!
