I’m gay American involved with a Bosnian. Any idea how we could emigrate to Canada sooner than later?

I met him while in Bosnia; we’ve been in a long-distance thing since I left. We’re both in our early 20s and, because immigration is only available to heterosexuals in the US, we’re unable to actually physically be together unless one of us has a student or work visa in either country…and while we’re both college-educated, that’s both unlikely and unstable.

We had both been looking at emigrating to Canada; the fact that we’d be able to be together legitimately sweetens the pot. I know that Canada officially supports “family reunification”, so does anyone know if there’s some way that one or both of us could become residents other than waiting the typical 4-5 years or having fake marriages?

What all is involved in getting a passport to Canada? How long does it take?

Posted January 12th, 2012 by immigratecanada and filed in Immigration to Canada

I live in Montana and I would like to take a trip to Canada but I need a passport. How long would it take me to get one after I have applied?
And what documention or ID do I need?

How difficult is it and what is involved in obtaining citizenship for Canada?

Not to sound unpatriotic but I am considering moving to Canada at some point. I had tried to move over ten years ago and remember the process to gain citizenship was a royal pain.
How would I go about obtaining it now or in the future and how easy/difficult is it? Thanks in advance.
