Can you sue Citizenship and Immigration Canada for their ineptitude?
I am an American woman who married a Canadian man I met over the internet over a year ago, and after careful consideration as to who should move where, we decided that he has closer ties to his family and his community, than I do my own, so I decided to move to Canada. However, applying even for a TRP has been a nightmare and I am not even allowed to communicate or even know who the person directly responsible for deciding my life. I think I should be able to speak to anyone working in my case and I find it totally unreasonable that they have such a rule and anyone I call tells me that they cannot even discuss the case with me or alter the decision.
Because of that, I feel reluctant to apply for Landed Status, as the expense is astronomical and there are no guarantees that the system will be granted status. Many have told me that hiring an immigration lawyer is a waste of money because they don’t have anymore access than I do.
I am a spouse. What are my rights?
To first answerer:
I think that this is ridiculous and the problem is the same in the US. I am a middle aged white woman, I’m least likely to be a threat to Canadian society, but yet, I am being treated like a pariah, while known terrorists have been given free passes.
