Canadian Immigration Process (Family Class: Spouse)?
My wife and child are canadian and I’m american. I’ve been considering applying under the “Family Class” to become a Permanent Resident. However the thought of being out of commission for 1-2 years while I wait for my PR card does not sit well with me. Being stuck doing nothing for 2 years would drive me insane.
I guess my question is:
Is there anyway I could get a temporary work visa while I wait for my PR card? Normally work visas are usually issued only to highly skilled workers; but my work experience is pretty plain. (ex:Retail, Sales, Customer Service, etc. etc.)
Can any one help me for fast canadian immigration – pnp or buisness partner. I am a east indian Chef – Manager
May be I should hire a attorney,But Lawyers are refusing and not responding as I have already applied, they take only fresh case. Then who can help me , PR Immigration waiting is 03 to 04 years here in India.
Immigration to Canada as a Skilled Worker?
I am an English/British citizen and it has been my plan for many years now to emmigrate to Canada. I am expecting a 2-1 for my Batchelor’s degree in Software Engineering, after which I will do a 1 year Master’s degree in the same area. I have 15 months full time paid experience in the industry. I will finish this my Master’s degree summer next year. I have the highest level proficiency in English (obviously, being English), and also a good level of French (France is only 2.5 hours away). Finally, my Dad’s brother and sister both live in Toronto, where I wish to emmigrate to.
I wish to emmigrate immediately after I finish my Master’s degree. I understand that there are long wait times (http://www.canada.org.uk/visa-info/processing_times.htm) of 4 years for permanent residence, or 6 weeks for a work permit. I have had a very good look on the official immigration website, and I believe the only avenues I have are either to wait 4 years for a permanent residence application to be processed, or to find arranged employment and get a work permit. There are fast-track immigration options for people in my industry, but that requires a minimum of 2 years full-time experience, however I only have 15 months (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/itw-jobs.asp#jobs5).
So far this leaves me with applying for a work permit as my only option, is that correct? The Canadian immigration website says that for both permanent residence and work permits, the application must be made from outside the country.
So to sum up, I guess I would need to visit Toronto to go to job interviews, secure a job offer, then leave the country again and apply for a work permit?
Any other suggestions or comments you may have are very much appreciated!
Thanks
I forgot to mention, I will be going on holiday to Toronto this summer. Do you think it is worth trying to apply for a job 10 months in advance?
Also, I assume my situation will be taken advantage of by employers, and I will get a sub-standard wage in my first months/year in Canada. Do you think this is a fair statement?
Thanks

Immigration lawyers, what do they do?
My family and I (all 4 of us are US citizens) are trying to apply for Canadian PR and my dad is considering getting an immigration lawyer. But he also said they cost a lot. How much will they cost to help us through one PR application and how much do they really help? I am just curious. Thanks.
(No offense to any immigration lawyers that surf this site. It would be great if you answered as well, I am just curious, not meaning to offend you.)
Yeah we don’t have a criminal background and I still live in Canada on a study permit and my family used to live here until about 5 months ago but now they went to the States again. We lived here for 7 years as a family so I think our case is routine, or hopefully, better than routine. It’s just a lot of work for my dad because he is busy with his work and this application is apparently quite time-consuming. 🙁
