If a Canadian woman gives birth to a baby while in a foreign country, is the newborn a citizen of Canada?
The woman was born and raised in Canada, holding a Canadian passport, but got pregnant and had a baby in the Philippines. The father is Swiss (not sure if that matters at all). Just wondering if she would have to apply for Canadian citizenship from overseas, or if the baby is automatically considered Canadian from birth.
Foreign workers and immigrants in Canada: taxed to the limit
The average foreign worker is paid minimal salaries and are taxed very heavily on that income. Canada AND the developing countries would benefit if the Canadian government would lighten the tax burden on money earned and remitted to support family members in other countries.

Planning on pursuing a career as a Canadian Foreign Service Officer, is an anthropology major a good idea?
I’m currently planning on pursuing a career as a Canadian Foreign Service Officer. My goal is to work for Citizenship and Immigration Canada as an immigration officer. Is social/cultural anthropology a good idea for a major? I’m bilingual, so I wouldn’t minor in French, but would it be a good idea to minor in a different foreign language? If anthropology isn’t a good path to follow, then what discipline should I pursue that would benefit the chances I have of becoming an FSO. Any advice is appreciated.
