Emigration to New Zealand?

Is it easy to immigrate New Zealand?

I think Canada is easier, but are there any ways to get emigration to NZ if I’m not a Skilled-Migrant (I probably wouldn’t get 100 points or more)? If got a Work to Residence or got an Agriculture Workers clearance would that give me NZ Residency if I apply? I really want to work and live in new Zealand as an agriculture or forestry worker. Canada also has agriculture so either Canada or New Zealand are my choices. America is so expensive and greedy I can’t stand living in America. They like agriculture in New Zealand so I’d like to be a New Zealand agriculture worker.

If I apply for a work permit or emigration to Australia or Canada, does my past employment need verification?

Posted November 4th, 2010 by immigratecanada and filed in Immigration to Canada

From what I understand, past employment is a major factor in determining how many “points” you accumulate, which decides whether you will be approved for a visa or not.

Well, I’m an American citizen, but I’ve spent most of the last two years in Asia teaching English after I graduated from college. Does this employment need to be verified somehow in order for me to get the immigration points? If so, how?

I think the private schools I worked for shut down after I left, so I doubt I’d be able to track down my previous employers. Even if I could, their English skills are pretty poor, so it would be difficult to get anything accomplished anyway.

So, do I have to somehow prove my past employment in order to get the immigration points, or do I just write down where I worked and that’s all there is to it?

Thanks very much!
ibu guru: Thanks for answering! Yes, “fly-by-night” might be a fitting description for my ex-employers.

When you say that I’ll need “verification of employment and references from past employers”… are those two separate things?

Is the verification more than just the reference? …and does it require telephone conversations, letters of reference, or what exactly?

Emigration – North America or Canada?

I have been thinking, maybe one day I would like to travel across the pond and experience life over there. I am not definitely moving there I am just curious as I will be a primary school teacher (ages 4-11) so will they let me ‘in’, I know USA have certain rules regarding letting you emigrate there.
I’m not really interested in the HOT states like Arizona, Florida etc. I’ve heard New England can be very expensive. I wouldn’t be interested in living in the middle of a city, especially not new york or LA.
Out of interest, which would you recommend me, USA or Canada in terms of housing, employability, quality of life etc.
I am getting into teaching using a degree in herbal medicine, so i would be a qualified medical herbalist. Is there any chance I could work as a medical herbalist. I understand it’s not an actual medical degree though. I’d love to have my own practice or lecture herbal medicine but want to train as a teacher as it’s a more reliable form of employment. I have never heard of any US universities/ colleges offering herbal medicine though.
