Is it worth emigrating to Canada from Ireland?
I am a third year student studying Software Design and Web Development, aiming to get my 4 year degree next year. I have always wanted to emigrate but was torn between America, Canada and England. However a friend of mine was living in Toronto for the summer and said she would definitely recommend me moving there.
Would just like people’s opinions on Toronto. Is there many jobs (has to be compared to here), is it a nice city, easy to emigrate (has to be easier than moving to America), etc.
All opinions are greatly appreciated and I will give vote the most informative answer as the “best answer.”
Emigrating to USA or Canada from England?
Ok, well I asked a similar question about this a while ago, I am going to be 15 in February and I have a dream. I am living in England, born and brought up in England, all my family are also in England.
And I would like to move to either Canada (Ontario) or America (Georgia – Atlanta) when I am older, they both seem like beautiful places, and I just love that part of the world. But I’m thinking that to make this come true, I will have to do well in School…blah blah blah lol. (So I am going to work hard in school as I’m already in my GCSE year) lol. Anyway, there’s SO much I need to know…
Like…
What I plan on doing is making my own business over there, a hairdressers. (Yes, I have taken hairdressing for GCSE).
But I don’t know what to do or anything, my mum said I should start off here in England, just being a normal hairdresser in someone else’s Salon, and through the years, progress up to being able to make my own business, and if it goes well, then move it to USA or Canada. Is this a good idea?
Plus, would I need to study USA in college or what ever to get over there?
Because I am not going to University because it’s too expensive, but I will be going to college.
Another thing is all this Visa stuff. I just don’t understand it. And I think that I should be starting to think of my future at my age anyway. So don’t just say something like “Learn about a visa when you’re older”.
And, do you think it is a good idea for this?
Going over there completely alone, all by myself? Because say if I need help, I have no one to fall back on. My best friend has said she would come with me, but you know best friends just being best friends, I don’t think she wants it as much as me, and I think when the time comes, she won’t want to come. So is it wise to go over there on my own? :/
And if there is anything else I need to know, can you tell me please? 🙂
Oh, and please don’t say negative things like
“Forget it, it would never happen”
‘Cause you just gotta dream&believe !! 🙂
Oh and Happy Christmas 😀
Oh, and something else I forgot to ask
Which Country do you think is better?
(To help me decide)
Haha 😀
Oh and why? 😛
why do i feel im being prevented from living my life and doing what i want? like emigrating from the uk?
certain people say to me ” you cant do this” and ”you cant do that” & i keep thinking when they say that, that the word ‘ can’t’ has deeper meaning..deep conotations…i think are they, or people unknown to me, preventing me, saying i can’t do what i want? i get really angry when i think deeply about this idea…because ive missed out on life greatly…im a 30 year old borderline personality disorder sufferer, ive suffered alot of abuse, pain, trauma & victimization in my life…& theres gonna be serious problems if people are saying i ‘ can’t’ do something….like their preventing me living my life, doing what i want.
i eventually want to move away from britain..emigrate to canada, the u.s or australia..however i have alot to work on in therapy……when people use the word ‘ can’t’ im percieve sometimes im being prevented from full filling my ambitions..& if this is the case theres going to be major problems, because them and me are gonna collide, me like an oncoming frait train
its just, im passionate about my ideals and ambitions in life…and when they say ‘cant’..i get confused and wonder if they or anyone else is preventing me from achieving my dreams….because i certainly oppose them and wont accept it…no one else would accept restrictions put on their life, its injust, and neither will i accept it.
emigrating?

Emigrating to Canada ….?
Hi!
I know I’m asking this question in Q&A in the UK, but has anyone out there emigrated to Canada?
In the space of one week my friend has activated her visa to emigrate to Canada, sold her house, and must now return to Canada to live within 6 months.
Although her application has taken over 3 years, she and her partner now have to make the decision, do we go or not?
They are getting really nervous and are a bit scared – everything seems to have happened all at once!
They don’t have any children or ties in the UK.
I’ve tried to find some forums to ask expats in Canada what their experiences are/were, but I can’t find any specific ones. All the forums I can find are all about applying and getting your visa etc.
I intend to ask this question several times today so that (hopefully) I can get a good cross section of answers.
Many thanks to all who take time to help me with my query.
Emigrating to Canada.?
I plan on moving to Canada once me and my girlfriend turn twenty-one. I’ve read up on permanent residence cards and have gotten little to no info. Do I apply for permanent residence card while I’m in america then apply for a work permit, or can I go to Canada only on a work permit then apply for permanent residence. All help will be greatly appreciated.
Well thanks for the info.. No need for negativity, america is over populated as it is..
Emigrating to America/canada with a profession?
I currently live in the UK, and go to America and Canada every year and love it, I am ex forces, having spent a 3 years in the navy, i have a masters degree in english and now teach english at a secondary school. I have always wanted to move to america/canada, but am unsure of how to get citizenship (specifically america) is it possible for me to get in as a teacher? or as a maritime navigator etc?
Oh, and when people ask me why i want to move. To be quite frank, its crap. The political system is shot to hell. People are ignorant, and the weather is rubbish to boot. 😛 😉
Emigrating to Canada from UK in October during Grade 12?
Hi, I’m taking Business Studies (A), Maths (B), English Language (A) and Biology (A) at AS level. (Predicted grades in brackets). We hope to move to Nova Scotia in the October this year, therefore, will transfer from College here to a high school there. I understand that 4 AS’s at grade C and above mean you can be considered into Dalhousie University, however, I wish to go high school there so that I can better integrate and understand the workings better. If I transfer during Grade 12, will I be able to get a qualification from the high school their? I don’t like the thought of not achieving something. Thanks for your help. 🙂
Actually, it’s Year 13!

Emigrating from the UK to Canada – Debt?
Hi,
Myself, husband and son were supposed to emigrate to NB Canada about 2 years ago. We had enought equity in out house to pay off our debts, fund the move itself and also have a deposit for a property when we got there….Unfortunately due to the UK property market crashing we can no longer afford toi cover all of the above. HOWEVER we could still go if we didn’t pay our debts…this isn’t something I would even consider doing if we had any other choice but the way things stand we can’t afford to do both. My husband had a job offer and we had all our paperwork sorted out, all we were waiting for was to sell our house but the price we would get now is so much lower than 2 years ago….we can afford to live well once in Canada but I wanted to know if leaving debt here will affect anything in Canada, ie visa, citizenship, buying a house there, etc?
Many Thanks
