I’m a Canadian citizen holding a US Greencard. Is it ok to leave the country for a whole month for vacation?

Posted June 6th, 2010 by immigratecanada and filed in Uncategorized

I have a permanent Greencard (ie: the 2 year probation has ended). I would like to visit my family in Canada for a month. I understand that the US Immigration services frown upon Greencard holders leaving US soil for long stretches of time.

How do duties in Canada work if I am returning an item I bought outside the country?

Posted June 5th, 2010 by immigratecanada and filed in immigrate to canada

Hello all!

I bought an item online from outside of the country and had duties charged when it crossed the border (expected.)

Now, I’m returning the item to the company (didn’t work out for me), but I don’t suppose that the company itself would return me the duty fees. Is there someplace that I should go to that might get me my duty fees back?

Thanks for any help!

Why Canada’s immigration policy is too complicated than European country?

Posted May 18th, 2010 by immigratecanada and filed in Uncategorized

If USA developed by immigrant then why Canadian government has very complicated immigration policy? Canada is vast and huge don’t they want to develove it at northern side? and immigration is the only source of skilled people.
I enquire about Canada immigration and its seem impossible and process of immigration takes ages.

from what country did my ancestors emigrate to canada?

Posted April 26th, 2010 by immigratecanada and filed in Uncategorized

I was told by family member they thought this ancestry was Warren (last name) who came from Scotland. I know of great grandparents in Alberta but not names. I only have memory back to grandfather; Harold Warren – born in Alberta, Canada. Had 2 sons, Robert and Murray, and one daughter Mildred. My father was Robert Harold Warren, born in Alberta about 1914 and died about 1939. Married my mother, Winnifred Irene Skinner, also from Alberta, who had a brother Stuart Skinner. I think their mother was Irene Skinner. My mother and father moved to British Columbia and had 2 sons: Robert Darrell and Douglas Stuart Warren, born in British Columbia 1937 and 1939.

Why is it when I want to sms from ymail, only options for home country are 4:USA, India, Canada & Philippines?

Posted April 21st, 2010 by immigratecanada and filed in Uncategorized

I tried sending text message from my new Yahoo (@ymail) address. A dialogue box asked me to select my home country 1st. Problem is, only 4 countries are displayed: USA, India, Canada & Philippines. I’m in Kenya. Is it that the sms service is not available in the other countries unavailable on the list? If someone at Yahoo is reading, I’d love an answer.
