Is the Canadian economy still doing well enough that I should consider immigrating to Canada?

I have family in SSK, which I am told is on the upswing in part due to jobs in the oil industry. I also heard that Alberta is still doing okay, and Toronto is a possibility as well. I know that I would have no problem with Canada’s point system, but I don’t know if it’s worth it now. Can anyone answer first hand?

When thinking about immigration, i think about equal opportunities, a job, education for my child, healthcare, peaceful land, etc, so please answer with full details.
