My wife has a US passport but was adopted from Canada. Does that mean that she is a US citizen?

Posted September 22nd, 2010 by immigratecanada and filed in Immigration to Canada

My wife was born in Canada, adopted by an American family. She had always assumed that they did the paperwork that they needed to do because she’s had 2 US passports. Recently when speaking to her mother; her mother stated that she had never filled anything out for the Immigration and Naturalization Service. We HAVE been married for 9 years. Because we’ve been married and she has 2 US passports (both expired, one recently) is she a US citizen or do we need to dig deeper?

If a US citizen, who works for a US company, often needs to visit Canada for work, is a work permit required ?

My husband is a US citizen, and we live and work in the US. He often has to go to Canada for business (to service contractors who buy his product). Technically, he is not doing any “paid” work in Canada but last time he crossed the border the Canadian border patrol told him next time he will need a work permit. Anybody knows what kind of permit they were talking about?
