I know that Canada introduced a new law in April 2009 regarding citizenship.
I was wondering if I am a Canadian citizen or still have the rights to apply for citizenship if not. Cause I was born in 1993 in Australia and my parents have still yet to notify the Canadian consulate of my birth or apply for a Canadian Citizen Certificate on my behalf.
If this helps, my father was nationalized as a Canadian citizen before my birth, and my mother only has Australian citizenship.
Can my father, who was born on a US base in Canada, claim Canadian citizenship?
My father was born on a US base located in NewFoundLand in 1957. He has a Canadian birth certificate. He is a United States citizen and resides in the U.S. So would he be able to claim citizenship to Canada and possibly can he use his citizenship(if he can get it) to get my mom and his children citizenship? Also, if you can provide a link to Canadian Laws that govern this please do this. Thanks.
Is a US-born child of a naturalized US citizen born in Canada eligible for Canadian citizenship?
I see that a US citizen born to a Canadian outside of Canada is eligible IF the parent is a Canadian citizen at time of birth (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_nationality_law#Canadian_citizenship_by_descent), but I am not clear if this holds if the Canadian-born parent is a US citizen at the time of the birth.
