Question for anyone up on their Canadian immigration laws?:)?

Posted April 7th, 2011 by immigratecanada and filed in Immigration to Canada

My husband is a Canadian citizen, but not natural born (he was born in El Salvador). He’s lived in the U.S. since he was 16 (yes, legally, ALWAYS). He’s just about to get permanent residency here, and after that comes though he will be able to apply for his citizenship.

However, he doesn’t want to get his citizenship for the U.S. unless he knows for sure that he will be able to keep his Canadian citizenship as well. He is VERY proud to be a Canadian (as well he should be:0)) To quote him, “The only reason I’m still in this damn country is because of you. I want to go home!”

We may end up in Canada one day in the long run, bu if we are going to be here a while it might be worth our while to get him his citizenship. We ask because the rule used to be you couldn’t have dual citizenship unless you were born in one of the countries, which he wasn’t. But, he thinks he heard that the rule changed, and maybe he can. Does anyone know? Thanks.
He’s not worried about the U.S. recognizing his citizenship, he just wants to make sure Canada will always welcome him with open arms. He got there when he was 8 years old (leaving a war-torn El Salvador), got citizenship with his family, and loves Canada… I’d like to say only slightly less than me, but I’m afraid to ask because I don’t want him to confirm that Canada means more to him than his wife.

I’m started to get desperate and dissapointed, should I give up Canada and go to the UK

We want to migrate to Canada but recent changes to their immigration system is not allowing us to do so as the job profile is not on occupation in demand list. Kindly suggets if there is any other way or if we can get a job on work permit in the same proffession.

Anyone know how to immigrate to Canada?

I’d like to know how to get a work permit to move to Canada. I’ve checked the website for the province of Alberta and even emailed them but so far all I’m left with is that to get a job you need the permit but to get the work permit you need a job offer. Sounds to me like a vicious circle. If anyone knows how to get around it I’d greatly appreciate it.

Hi,
I am emigrating to Canada from Ireland and I wish to train to be an elementary school teacher in Canada. I am the holder of an honours degree in Multimedia but I am not sure as to whether I need to do a masters or a ba. I am flexible as to where in Canada I go. Any help or indicators would be massively appreciated!

Both my husband and i have a criminal record . My husband served time in jail. he fought he’s case from inside and won that case but did end up being charged for drugs anyways. they gave him 3 months for what he had. ended up serving 1 1/2 in prison. it’s been about 11 yrs. and has not had anything else on his record. I don’t know if he would qualify for PR in Canada. He’s job here is construction laborer, not sure if that is one of the jobs in demand in Canada. Ok my story. I was arrested in 2005 for possession (drugs) i did not serve any time, but they did give me probation for 7 yrs. i have been on probation for 3 1/2 yrs. and they want me to pay my fine and cut me early. its been 5 yrs. since my arrest and i do not have anything else on my record after or before that. my work is i guess not on the demand jobs in Canada. i work in a call center, but would we be able to ever get a PR in Canada? And plz. does anyone know a good Canadian immigration lawyer?
oh by the way my husband has been clean for 11 yrs. and yeah people do make stupid mistakes! that does not mean we are bad people. i have 3 wonderful boys that keep me going everyday and its b/c of them that we live i better life everyday!!

Is Migration Expert a good option to start with a process for the visa to work in Canada? I don’t know how so reliable they are, and I received an email from them to go to the next step which is the payment.
If you have any experience in that please advise with a immigration agent please advise.
Thanks!
