I am a single mother of a 12yr old son, we are both american citizens, I have fallen in love with a canadian?

and would like to move to canada to start a life together. I do not plan on working for the first yr, however would like for my son to be able to attend school and receive health care. I have a place of residence in canada. but i do not know what else i will need. How can we become residents of canada? After my first year I would like to work, how does this process work? Cant seem to figure it out from the canadian consulate website. I dont qualify for skilled worker, and i want to reside not just visit canada. I would like to relocate as soon as possible. Should I just visit first and then try to get permanent residency? Should I hire a Canadian Immigration lawyer first? Please help, any information will be greatly appreciated.
I am not looking for free healthcare…I am looking to become a citizen so that my partner and I can start a life together as a family.

Which country is the easiest for an American to emigrate to: Australia, Canada, or the UK?

Posted April 23rd, 2012 by immigratecanada and filed in Immigration to Canada

I’m a recent college graduate with a degree in business. If I wanted to live and work in one of these countries (either with a temporary work permit or through an application for permanent residency), would one of them be the easiest? How about the hardest?

Please consider the odds of successfully getting a work permit or premanent residency, as well as the amount of time the process takes.

Thanks!

Does anybody know if it’s easier to emigrate to Canada as European or as American?

One Canadian and one American have a child. Can one parent leave with child to Canada?

Can I leave for Canada (I am a Canadian citizen) with my child, without the father’s consent? The child is a U.S. born citizen. Does Canada and U.S. have foreign policies regarding child abduction? Or will Canada not become involved in custody disputes?

I’m a gay American citizen looking to get out. Where should I emigrate to and how?

I’m a 20-year-old American with a brain, ambition and a bachelor’s degree in Geography, Arabic and E. European Studies.

I’ve also been thinking about and researching emigration on a near daily basis for at least three years. I am not comfortable in this country – I’m gay, Palestinian, a secular Muslim, very liberal and am quite affected by my inability to marry a foreigner.

I’ve been thinking of emigrating to Canada (which would be easy), but I’d like to somehow get into the E.U.

I’d prefer a country that allows gay marriage, has good health care and isn’t rife with problems. I’ve been investigating Spain, Sweden, the Netherlands and the U.K. I don’t care about high taxes or languages. I /would/ like to maintain my American citizenship so that I can take care of family in the future, etc. without problem. (I hear that some officially do not allow dual citizenship, but don’t really enforce it.)

What do you suggest? How do I do this without being a highly skilled professional?

UPDATE: I know which countries allow for gay marriage/benefits.

I just want to know which E.U. country is easiest to emigrate to and how to go about doing it.

The gay marriage/benefits thing is just ONE factor in influencing why I’m leaving and where I’ll go – that is, I’d prefer Sweden and Holland to Poland or Malta, which, despite being EU, are not at all gay-friendly. I’ve been in love with someone before that didn’t have the right passport and it’s kept us apart – not a fun experience. If I was a Swede, Canadian, etc. it wouldn’t be a problem. Make sense?

Do I need a Canadian visa to travel to Canada even if I have an American visa?

I require a Canadian visa to enter Canada. However, I have an American visa. Would I still need to apply for a Canadian visa, or will the American visa work?

I’m gay American involved with a Bosnian. Any idea how we could emigrate to Canada sooner than later?

I met him while in Bosnia; we’ve been in a long-distance thing since I left. We’re both in our early 20s and, because immigration is only available to heterosexuals in the US, we’re unable to actually physically be together unless one of us has a student or work visa in either country…and while we’re both college-educated, that’s both unlikely and unstable.

We had both been looking at emigrating to Canada; the fact that we’d be able to be together legitimately sweetens the pot. I know that Canada officially supports “family reunification”, so does anyone know if there’s some way that one or both of us could become residents other than waiting the typical 4-5 years or having fake marriages?

How hard would it be for an American to move to Vancouver?

Posted March 15th, 2012 by immigratecanada and filed in Immigration to Canada

I’m an American citizen and soon to be college graduate and would like to move to Vancouver B.C. I’ve heard the process of emigrating to Canada is difficult, and that to stay in Canada for extended periods of time, one must have proof of a job being offered to them by a Canadian company.

Any thoughts or advice from others who have moved to Canada?
