Here is a 2011 Conservative Party of Canada campaign ad that has only been broadcast in Quebec and in French. It insinuates that illegal immigrants escaping persecution, war and deplorable conditions in their own countries are somehow taking advantage of Canadian kindness and generosity. It also reveals a troubling xenophobic and paranoid undercurrent to the Conservative campaign. Here’s the ad they didn’t feel the rest of Canada should see. Might it be because they didn’t want to alienate their large immigrant voting base in the rest of the nation? i’m an intl student in the States and plan to apply Canada immigration. according to CIC website, 3 years residing in Canada is a must before applying citizenship.

i was told that when counting the vaild time lived in Canada, the time i lived in the States also counts, but timed by 0.5. i have been to CIC website but didn’t find info about it. Can anyone help me to verify this info?

Canada lets in waay too many immigrants. We let in more refugees than independants. Independant iimmigrants contribute to the economy and make the country prosper. They are educated, skilled workers. And right alongside that, this country lets in way more refugees. REfugees are generally non skilled, uneducated people. Yes, I understad some of them are escaping death, but why not be like Germany- rent land in another country and not bring the trash to Canada. Call me racist, but it is true! Because when they come to Canada, they suck off the government in services such as welfare, and have a million children. How is this helping Canada? and why exactly would it be good to populate this country? Refugees are dead weight, that is all. Please express your opinion on this. Thank you.
most children from immigrants remain extremely proud in canada and push it in everyone’s face. I myself am an immigrant but my parents had to work their rears off to get here and settle. I feel angry when i see others getting better things by being lazy and sucking off the system.

Hi hope someone can help me i got married in july to a canadian girl im from the UK and when i entered canada i was given 5 months to stay we are going through the immigration process starting on the 10th of october but i have to go back to the UK as i have legal matters concering my daughter .

We were planning a trip in november but i have read that immigration may not let me back into canada on my return i have contacted my lawyer to write me a letter stating that i have to go to a meeting with him and some people from the court who are dealing with my daughters custody case as was wondering if anyone knows if this will make any difference ????

I live in India,the main stream media here keeps on blabbering about supporting national identity, also Indians born in other countries like UK also called NRIs(non-residential Indians) are more patriotic towards India. Films like “Namastey London” clearly give the message that no matter where you are born you should support India. Moreover, here you will find ads on tv and in markets to illegally immigrate to UK and Canada. But the thing that disturbs me the most is how acceptable it is in mainstream media here for Indian men to sexually exploit british girls (not just british but any white girl like australian or american) by making the excuse of taking revenge for British rule on India.This generation wasn’t even responsible for colonization. I am also pretty sure that it is same in Pakistan and Bangladesh too.Don’t British people understand that these people won’t integrate in the society,on the other hand they will exploit Britains view of being “politically right”.And what proved my ideas were right, was the latest case of Pakistani men grooming young white girls for prostitution.These men will never exploit girls from their own country.Emma West was jailed for passing racist comments in a tram,moreover her address was circulated on facebook and twitter and she has been receiving death threats ever since. But four Somali girls who physically assaulted a white girl named Rhea Page were freed by saying that muslims were not used to being drunk.Rhea lost her job due to trauma and was deprived of justice because media was too scared of highlighting the ethnicity of the attackers.What the hell is wrong with British society, call me a hypocrite, but British will be a minority in coming years in their own country. We don’t see British ppl coming to live in India even if they do ppl around here are too hostile against white ppl especially women.It is high time that Britain does something to tackle this problem.

I’m an American citizen and soon to be college graduate and would like to move to Vancouver B.C. I’ve heard the process of emigrating to Canada is difficult, and that to stay in Canada for extended periods of time, one must have proof of a job being offered to them by a Canadian company.

Any thoughts or advice from others who have moved to Canada?
