One Canadian and one American have a child. Can one parent leave with child to Canada?

Can I leave for Canada (I am a Canadian citizen) with my child, without the father’s consent? The child is a U.S. born citizen. Does Canada and U.S. have foreign policies regarding child abduction? Or will Canada not become involved in custody disputes?

Points Calculator question to emigrate to Canada?

Posted March 29th, 2012 by immigratecanada and filed in Immigration to Canada

I have recently went onto the http://www.workpermit.com site and have done the points calculator for CANADA.
On the site it says:
A two-year university degree at the Bachelor’s level AND at least 14 years of full-time study – 20 points.
I am keen to emigrate right after I have finished University. The course I want to do is THREE years. Does this mean that I can apply AFTER my second year at university and the application will still be acceptable??

How difficult is it to emigrate to Canada from US?

Posted March 29th, 2012 by immigratecanada and filed in Immigration to Canada

Could one ask for refugee status & if so, what would the conditions be? Do you have to give up all of your belongings? I know how others feel about the stereotypical US citizen & how much we are hated. Do French Canadians hate us as much as the French? I can’t stand what’s happening in the US. I have an 8 year old daughter & I want what is best for her. I know that Canada has some wonderful ballet companies, skating, skiing, etc. / a lot of opportunities for children.
I’m not going into my situation but you have no idea whether I qualify for refugee status or not… & I do. As for calling me a liberal democrat, far from it, lmao.
Thanks Skye but no more Mexico for us. Texas has turned into Mexico, hadn’t you heard?
Mama Mia & Lee Ann, thanks for your answers, too. You also had good ideas. Thanks everyone for participating.

Product Description
Canadians often imagine their country as a multicultural democracy, while a few go further to claim that the country’s diversity can be characterized as multinational in its social and institutional make-up. Through comprehensive historical, contemporary, and critical accounts, they argue that the country has been the objec… More >>
