I’m from the US and this might be a dumb question but I was wondering where do you look for an immigration lawyer for immigration to Canada? When people say they hire an immigration lawyer or talk to one for cosulation, do they look in their country of residence for one or do they have to go to Canada to find one for immigration to Canada? I kinda figured you would have to go to Canada due to different laws in different countries. But anyway, does anyone know? Thanks in advance.

OK, I have trie looking for immigration details to canada, but can’t really find what I want. Someone out there must know…..how do I, an american citizen, go about immigrating to canada? What, if any, type of entry visa do I need?(didn’t they start making everyone have entry visas??) Is there a specific type of visa to get, so that I can switch things over to immigrant status? What else do I need to do besides that? I’ve looked at the skilled worker program qualification, and seeing as I’m a nurse you think it would be no big deal…..but all jobs I’ve found want me to have a SIN number first. Sorry guys if I seem dumb, but I am tired of searching around and not getting what i want. Thanks!!!!!
Oh, just t add….should have remembered this the first go-round. I don’t have anyone to sponsor me in Canada. I’m depending on my job skills(see above mentioned 🙂 ) I’m also married, though my husband holds citizenship in a foreign country. Don’t know if that makes any difference there guys.

My friend is, from Mexico, working and studying in USA @ the moment. She’s thinking of immigrate to Canada because US green card(employment based) process is waiting too long. Also, she can’t travel and re-enter USA while she’s waiting for green card.
She doesn’t have family in Canada, and can’t afford immigrate under business class/investing. The only class she can immigrate there is under skilled worker class, and she passed the skill worker self-assessment test. Please kindly advise the following if she applies for skilled worker class to Canada immgration dept. 1) What are the procedures and requirements? 2) How long is the wait time in order to receive the permittion of entering Canada? 3) Can she travel and re-enter Canada while her application is processing? 4) Is Vancouver a better location to apply for?
If any of you have any other suggestion, pls write.
